Take your seat among legends: Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust launches ‘Name Your Seat’ Campaign
Today, Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust launches its Name Your Seat campaign – giving theatre-lovers the chance to become part of history as our venue undergoes its most ambitious transformation to date.
Our recent campaign film, featuring some of Britain’s greatest theatrical figures, including Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Derek Jacobi, and director, Richard Eyre, celebrates the Theatre’s extraordinary legacy and future. In recognition of their support, each will have their name on a seat plaque.
The Arts Theatre has long been a launchpad for new talent, with alumni including Olivia Colman, Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry among the many household names who first cut their teeth on its stage. Now supporters can “secure their place among legends” by dedicating a seat plaque from £400, with premium opportunities from £1,000 and £1,500 – creating a lasting legacy for themselves, their families, or in memory of loved ones.
Sir Richard Dearlove, Chair of Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust said:
“This is a once-in-a-generation moment. By naming a seat, our audiences aren’t just helping us reopen our doors – they’re becoming part of the story of The Arts Theatre and its extraordinary future.”
The Name Your Seat campaign is central to the theatre’s transformational redevelopment. With Phase 1 of the project in its final stages, fundraising is now focusing on Phase 2, the creation of a brand-new 200-seat studio theatre on its rooftop, a versatile space dedicated to producing exciting new work and an enhanced creative learning programme that works with communities across Cambridgeshire.
